CCD	1 - L'acronimo sta per "Charge Coupled Device" ed e' una serie di elementi lineari o a matrice traduttivi, dove gruppi di elettroni si formano su ciascun elemento in funzione della quantita' di luce ricevuta durante un intervallo di esposizione, questi gruppi di elettroni vengono recuprati dalla serie di elementi in forma di impulsi elettrici modulati formando un segnale. 2 - Con CCD si puo' intendere in modo piu' generale anche un lettore di codice a barre 1D che fa uso come Scan Engine di un Charge Coupled Device. Character	1 - A graphic shape representing a letter, digit, punctuation mark, or other symbol, for exemple in an OCR font. 2 - A single group of bars and spaces which represent one letter, digit, etc. in a bar code. 3 - A symbol that is used in the organization, control, or presentation of data, for example a start or stop character in a bar code or a function code in an OCR string of data.
character set	The total range of letters, numbers, and symbols that can be encoded in a particular bar code symbology or other automatic identification technology.
check digit	A character included in a code in order to perform a mathematical check that when a machine reading or human operation is carried out the code is correct. its value is calculated from the other characters in the code.
clear area	See quiet zone.
Codabar	A bar code symbology which encodes 16 data characters: 0 - 9, 6 special characters ( - $ : / . + ), and 4 unique start/stop characters ( A, B, C , D ).Each characters has 7 elements ( 4 bars and 3 spaces ). The USS Codabar symbology uses only two widths of element ( wide and narrow ). In USS Codabar, 12 characters ( 0 - 9 and - $) have 2 wide elements, while the other characters have 3 wide elements; this means that USS Codabar characters have two different lenghts. Traditional Codabar produces a constant length character, but requires the use of 18 different element widths . For decoding purposes, both versions are fully compatible when using the USS Codabar reference decode algorithm Codabar.
Codice a barre	1 - Una serie di barre e spazi paralleli tra di loro e dalla forma rettangolare disposti secondo le regole di codifica di una particolare simbologia al fine di rappresentare i dati in forma leggibile da parte di un dispostivo ( lettore di codice a barre ). 2 - Una tecnologia di Identificazione Automatica che consiste nell'acquisire dei dati codificati come al punto 1].
