wand
 ( light pen ) - A bar code or OCR conctact scanning device held in the operator's hand and moved across the symbol. Wands are conctact or near conctact devices. The term 'light pen' is less frequently used now because it is easily confused with devices of this name which are used to control the cursor of CRT (cathode ray tube ) terminals.

wedge
 A device that plugs in between a keyboard and a PC. Includes a pen scanner allowimg data to be entered either by keyboard or pen scanner.
