fbc
   Sigla che identifica i lettori CCD Flash della Cino Group ( FBC3660 - FBC3860 - FBC6860 ) ditta di Taiwan, tali lettori vengono commercializzati in italia dalla ACSE srl con il codice WL.

field of view
   The length of code that can be read in one scan. For wand scanners and others where the scanner beam has to be manually moved across the symbol, field of view is a function of the operator's ability to scan smoothly. For moving beam scanners and others where the scanner has depth of field, field of view is a function of the distance from the outport of the scanner, whereas for cameras the aperture determines the field of view.
firmware
   A computer program or software stored permanently in PROM or ROM or semi-permanently in EPROM.
Flat Bed Scanner
   A fixed scanner ( as widely used at supermarket chekouts ) which can read bar code symbols at any angle in a plane parallel to or near parallel to the scanner window. Omnidirectional scanning of symbols is a property of this type of scanner.

font
   A set of characters of a specific style and size of graphic type.
frequency hopping
   One of two fundamental techniques for uniformly spreading the data signal over a large frequency spectrum ("Spread Spectrum"). Each bit of data is broken into several chips where each chip is rapresented by a different tone in the spread spectrum band. The chipping pattern is a pseudo-random sequence of tones uniformly distributed throughout the band, simulating white noise ( or random interference ) over the spread spectrum band. It contains no information. By modulating chipping sequence with data signal, information is added to the chipping sequence.
fuzzy logic
   Acronimo FL, e' un metodo di controllo e soluzioni dei problemi che si presta ad essere implementato in piccole apparecchiature fino a sistemi piu' complessi; la FL puo' essere implementata nell'hardware, nel software o in una combinazione di entrambi.
   La FL fornisce un semplice modo per arrivare a una definizione di conclusioni sulla base di informazioni ambigue, imprecise, vaghe, disturbate o da informazioni in parte perdute ( es. codici a barre rovinati ).
   In pratica una soluzione Fuzzy Logic affronta un problema come una persona che deve decidere ragionando, solamente in modo molto piu' veloce.
